BASKETBALL: Basketball is open to boys and girls in grades 3 through 8. Grades 3/4 are on team together. Grades 5, 6, 7, & 8 have their own teams. Games are played during the winter. Registration for the 2010-2011 season will begin early October. Early Registration (by October 22nd) is $65.00 per child. Registration after October 22nd thru November 1st is $75.00 per child. No registration will be accepted after 3:30 pm on November 1, 2010.

Green Township Recreation is running a basketball clinic for grades 1 and 2. See information and registration forms below. The registration deadline is January 8, 2011.

GIRL'S SOFTBALL: Softball is open to girls Pre-K (age 5 by March 1st) through 9th grade. Early registration closes 2/17/11 and is $50 per child. Registration after 2/17/11 through 2/23/11 is $60 per child. No registrations will be accepted after 3:30 pm 2/23/11. Teams compete with other teams participating in the Northwest Skylands Girls Softball League. Games not played at home require travel to home team's field. Practices begin approximately in mid-April at the direction of the coach. Games begin in early May and end in early June.

SOCCER: Soccer is open to children Pre-K (age 4 by October 1) through 8th grade. It is held twice a year, spring and fall. Pre-K thru grade 2 play among Green Township teams, grades 3 and up travel to compete with other towns' recreation leagues. Games are played at Evergreen Park. The fee is $40 for an individual player, $55 for a family registration for early registration and $50 for individual player and $70 for a family for late registration. Deadline for early registration is February 25, 2011 and deadline for late registration is March 4, 2011.

LITTLE LEAGUE: Green Township does not offer a recreational little league program. Residents are invited to participate under the Lackawanna Little League Program. FOOTBALL/CHEERLEADING: Green Township does not offer a recreational Football or Cheerleading program. Residents are invited to contact the Newton Junior Athletic League (NJAL.org).

EASTER EGG HUNT: Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Park. Rain date is Sunday, April 17th.

SPRING COMMUNITY YARD SALE: May 14, 2011 (rain date May 15th). The Community Yard Sale is held where residents wishing to participate have their home yard sale placed on our map for $5.00. The maps usually average 35-40 homes and are available at the Municipal Building a few days in advance. Advertising is also provided on the community channel through SECTV and in the New Jersey Herald.

5K ROAD RACE/WALK: May 15, 2011 (rain or shine) – Spring Skedaddle 5K Run/Walk. The registration starts at 7:30 am at 14 Kennedy Road, Evergreen Park. 5K Run/Walk starts at 9:00 am. The awards ceremony will be at 10:30 am. The registration fee is Pre-registration - $15.00 (postmarked May 2nd) and $20.00 after May 2nd to day of race. MISS GREEN TOWNSHIP PAGEANT: Saturday, June 4, 2011 at EverGreen Park at 6:00 pm. The Miss Green Township Pageant is open to girls ages 17-22 who are residents of Green Township. Scholarship prize money is awarded to competitors, who will win a chance to compete at the Sussex County Farm and Horse show for the title of "Queen of the Fair". Deadline for application submission is Friday, May 27, 2011.

TALENT SHOW CONTEST: Saturday, June 4, 2011, 6:00 p.m. at EverGreen Park, Kennedy Road, following the Miss Green Pageant. The Green Township talent show is open to all residents. The Children's division is for ages 9 and below; the Junior Division is for ages 10 to 15; and the Adult Division is for ages 16 and up. First place winners are eligible to compete at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show.

SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM: The summer recreation program will take place from Monday, July 11th through Friday, July 29th, 2011. The program will run Monday to Friday from 9 AM to Noon and will be held at the Green Hills School on Mackerley Road. More information to follow.

GREEN TOWNSHIP DAY: September 24, 2011 at Evergreen Park, 11:00 am to 3:30 pm (rain date September 25th). A special celebration with fun, food, games and prizes. The Older American Award will be presented at 1:00 PM. The Fun Talent Show will be held at 1:30 PM. The application for crafter/vendors is available with the $10.00 fee for lawn space below.

HALLOWEEN PARADE: Sunday, October 30, 2011 3:00 pm Evergreen Park (rain or shine) - Children’s Halloween Parade for all ages.

HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING: Sunday, December 4, 2011, 4:00 p.m., Evergreen Park (rain date Monday, December 5th - 6:00 p.m.). Annual Tree Lighting Celebration. Come sing some holiday songs and enjoy cookies and hot cocoa with your neighbors while the children visit with Santa.

HOLIDAY HOME DECORATING CONTEST: The Holiday Home Decorating Contest will be held on December 13, 2011. We look forward to your participation.

HO HO HOTLINE: Santa will all children on to wish them a happy holiday and find out who's been "Naughty or Nice." More information to follow.
